In its latest seasonal climate update released on Thursday, the agency said the sea-surface temperature anomaly in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific could reach about 3.7°C above normal between October and December. This would surpass the previous record of 2.6°C recorded between November 2015 and January 2016.

Kenya Red Cross says March–May rains affected 41 counties, impacting 85,993 households and displacing 18,587. The floods destroyed 355 water sources and wiped out 38,955 acres of farmland, including in Tana River’s Tana Delta.
