The Transport and Infrastructure Committee has directed Principal Secretary in the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Teresia Mbaika and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director Moses Wekesa to provide a detailed report on the affected land at the Mombasa airport.
The authority urged passengers whose travel plans had been affected to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest flight information.
Officials from the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace, led by PS Teresia Mbaika, together with the Kenya Airports Authority management, told the committee that rehabilitation works on runways 14/32 and 07 were at 38 percent completion against a target of 40 percent.
The talks followed a seven-day industrial action notice issued by the union, demanding urgent action on workers’ grievances.
Among the advertised opportunities are 50 internship positions in a 12-month structured program designed to bridge academic training with hands-on experience.
The committee also noted a Sh7.4 million payment to PricewaterhouseCoopers for technical advisory services after its contract was terminated under unclear circumstances.
