Located on a 535-acre site in Jomvu Sub-County, the zone is expected to accommodate 67 companies involved in manufacturing, warehousing, assembly, processing and other businesses targeting local and export markets.
The initiative builds on Murang’a’s first investment conference held in June 2025 under the theme of unlocking the county’s potential as an industrial hub. The conference brought together investors, government representatives, private-sector players and other stakeholders to explore investment opportunities across industrialisation, agriculture, technology, healthcare, tourism and waste management
Kindiki, who chaired a special CAIPs status review meeting in Karen, Nairobi, on August 26, 2026, said the industrial parks would play a key role in Kenya’s industrialisation agenda by enabling counties to aggregate agricultural produce, undertake value addition and develop cottage industries with the potential to expand into larger manufacturing enterprises
The meeting will bring together representatives from Meru, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Garissa, Wajir and Migori, with discussions expected to centre on the state of facilities needed before the parks can be commissioned and put into use.
Speaking on Thursday, during signing of the Agreement on Establishment of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks ceremony at the State House, he said all 34 counties have committed to co-funding and urged focus on operationalising facilities to support small-scale industries and local manufacturing growth.
The Senate Committee on Trade, Industrialisation and Tourism had invited CS Kinyanjui on Tuesday to update them on the status of all county industrial parks, but he did not attend, prompting a formal summons
Principal Secretary for the State Department of Industry Juma Mukhwana said the audit will verify that county governments adhere to legal, financial, and governance requirements while implementing the parks.
