KMTC issues fraud warning to students seeking September admission

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has warned students and parents to beware of people promising to secure admission, influence placement or offer inside information as applications for the September 2026 intake continue.

The warning comes after the release of KMTC placement results, with the institution urging applicants to depend on verified information when making decisions about admission, placement and available courses.

In an update issued on Wednesday, September 2, KMTC cautioned prospective students against individuals who may seek money or personal information by claiming to have the ability to influence the admission process.

"With KMTC placement results now out and applications for the September 2026 intake ongoing, applicants and parents are advised to be cautious of individuals claiming they can secure placement, influence admission or provide privileged information about the process," the institution said.

KMTC advised applicants to confirm any information concerning their admission through its official communication channels rather than relying on promises or information from unverified sources.

The college said applicants looking for details on placement, admissions and available courses should also use the official communication channels of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Those who require further assistance can visit their nearest KMTC campus for guidance on the admission process.

Applications for the September 2026 intake are still open for both pre-service and upgrading programmes.

Applicants interested in pre-service programmes are required to submit their applications through the KUCCPS portal, while those seeking admission through upgrading programmes are expected to use the KMTC Admissions Portal.

The warning comes as KMTC continues preparations for the new intake and efforts to guide applicants through the official admission process.

Meanwhile, changes to the institution's leadership have also been confirmed after President William Ruto and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale renewed the appointments of five members of the KMTC Board of Management.

KMTC said Ruto reappointed Joseah Kiplangat Cheruiyot as chairperson of the board for another three-year term.

Duale also reappointed four members representing public interest for another three years, with their new terms taking effect on August 28, 2026.

The four are Paul Kaino Cheboi, Eunice Wangui Karanja, Hardlyne Lusui and Eng. Dr. Joseph Ouma Atonga.

The five officials will continue serving alongside representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Director-General for Health, the National Treasury and the KMTC Chief Executive Officer.

"They continue to serve alongside other members of the KMTC Board, including representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Director-General for Health, the National Treasury and the College Chief Executive Officer," the institution said.

The board is responsible for providing oversight and guiding the strategic direction of the college as it seeks to expand access to health training and improve the quality of its programmes.

"The Board provides oversight and strategic direction to the College as KMTC expands access to health training, strengthens the quality of its programmes and responds to the changing needs of the country’s health sector," the statement added.

KMTC said the renewed appointments would also support stability in its leadership as it implements priorities under its current Strategic Plan.

These include improving training quality, supporting research and innovation, advancing digital transformation and promoting institutional sustainability.

"The reappointments provide stability in the College’s governance as KMTC advances key priorities under its Strategic Plan, including training quality, research and innovation, digital transformation, and institutional sustainability," the statement further read.
