Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, was a retired agricultural academic who became Tanzania’s first First Gentleman when his wife assumed the presidency.
Ameir died on Monday, September 7, 2026, at about 8am at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, where he was receiving treatment for a heart condition.
