Kenyans living in the United Arab Emirates have been urged to register for upcoming Mobile Consular Services as the government prepares to bring selected consular assistance closer to citizens abroad.
The call was issued by the Kenya Embassy in Abu Dhabi through its official X account on Monday, which shared a notice from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs.
The initiative is part of the department’s mandate to promote and safeguard the welfare of Kenyans living outside the country.
The department said the mobile services will be conducted in the UAE in the coming months, with registration intended to help officials identify the consular services required and make adequate preparations for the exercise.
In the notice, the State Department said it was seeking information from Kenyans on the specific services they require before the exercise begins.
“The State Department for Diaspora Affairs, in Execution of its mandate to champion the welfare of Kenyans abroad, plans to conduct Mobile Consular Services (MCS) for Kenyans residing in the United Arab Emirates in the coming months,” it said.
The department said the registration process would help it assess demand for consular assistance and ensure adequate preparation for the mobile services.
Kenyans in the UAE have been directed to register for the services they require through the Diaspora Affairs website ahead of the planned exercise.
“To facilitate adequate preparation, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs requests Kenyans in the UAE to register for consular services they require through the following link.”
Kenyans seeking the services have been directed to complete the registration process through the Diaspora Affairs website at diaspora.go.ke/mcs.
The embassy encouraged eligible Kenyans to register ahead of the planned exercise, signalling the government's efforts to improve access to consular services for citizens who may not be able to easily travel to the embassy or relevant government offices.
The Mobile Consular Services programme is aimed at making government services more accessible to Kenyans in the diaspora by taking selected services closer to communities outside the country's diplomatic missions.
The State Department's call also provides the government with an opportunity to establish the level and type of consular assistance required by Kenyans in different parts of the UAE before officials conduct the exercise.
The embassy concluded its notice by encouraging Kenyans to take part in the registration process.
“Register Today! Stronger Together.”
The announcement comes as Kenyan diplomatic missions continue to engage citizens living abroad on access to government services and other consular support.
For Kenyans in the UAE, the registration process is expected to help the State Department determine the services required and make the necessary logistical preparations for the upcoming Mobile Consular Services.
The government has not provided a specific date or venue for the exercise in the notice, but said the services would be conducted in the coming months.
Kenyans living in the UAE have therefore been encouraged to register their needs through the designated online platform as the State Department prepares for the mobile consular exercise.
