Three arrested in Narok after 118.6kg cannabis worth Sh3.36m seized

Three suspected drug traffickers have been arrested in Narok after anti-narcotics detectives recovered 118.6kg of cannabis sativa valued at about Sh3.36 million during a raid on makeshift structures in the Narok main quarry area.

The operation, carried out by detectives stationed at Narok Police Station, followed what the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB) described as “credible intel” on the suspected storage and distribution of narcotics in the area.

Those arrested are Joel Rimin Koisikir, Hassan Mukaria Jackson and Robert Turgut Kipkoech.

According to NANIB, the detectives recovered 19 packages containing cannabis sativa weighing a total of 118.6kg. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of Sh3,358,000.

The officers also found assorted packing materials believed to have been used in the illicit trade.

NANIB said the raid was “meticulously coordinated” and focused on makeshift structures suspected of being used to keep the drugs.

The detectives moved in after receiving information pointing to the suspected presence of narcotics at the site, leading to the arrest of the three men and the seizure of the drugs.

The suspects remain in custody as detectives complete the necessary processing before they are taken to court.

The seized cannabis has also been secured and will be presented in court as an exhibit as investigations continue into the suspected trafficking network.

The arrests come amid continued efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt the movement and distribution of narcotics across the country.

NANIB has called on members of the public to share information that could help authorities identify and break up drug trafficking networks.

The agency urged Kenyans to report suspected drug-related activities anonymously through its toll-free number, 0800 722 203, or WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.

NANIB said members of the public should not fear reporting suspected criminal activity and encouraged them to assist authorities with information that may help in tackling the illegal drug trade.

The three suspects are expected to be arraigned once investigations and processing have been completed.
