Ruto’s fiscal discipline tested as Government offices spend more

Between July and September 2025, recurrent expenses by ministries, departments, and agencies hit Sh366.5 billion, up from Sh280.09 billion in the same period of 2024. The 30.9 per cent jump reflects increased costs in wages, administration, operations, and office maintenance — despite the government’s pledge to rein in such spending.
