The evidence was heard during the murder trial of Sarah Wairimu, who is accused of killing her husband, the Dutch businessman, with four prosecution witnesses appearing before Lady Justice Diana Rachel Kavedza on Thursday.
Cohen’s widow, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, is facing a murder charge over his death, with the prosecution continuing to present witnesses in support of its case at the High Court of Kenya at Kibera.
Rashid’s case is now nearing the end of the prosecution stage, with only one witness left. The court directed that the matter be mentioned on October 26 for a date to be fixed for the final hearing.
Police Constable Stanley Kanyile testified that on July 19, 2019, officers responded to a distress call from Cohen’s residence in Spring Valley.
Appearing before Justice Diana Kavedza, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), called Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Beneutychus Wanjohi, a forensic expert specialising in Imaging and Acoustics, as its seventh witness.
The worker testified that July 19, 2019 was the last time he saw Cohen alive while working at his residence. He said that when he later returned to the property, Cohen was no longer present and questions had started emerging about his whereabouts.
Wairimu wants the court to treat her application as urgent and hear it without delay. She is also asking that all decisions and directions issued so far be cancelled, and that the case be restarted before a different judge, excluding Justice Kavedza.
