A women’s movement lobby led by former senator Gloria Orwoba has petitioned Kenya’s Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, urging urgent reforms to address misogyny, harassment, online abuse and intimidation, including in politics.
In a statement issued on February 9, 2026, the Society said the complaints, widely shared on social media, largely involve associates, interns and pupils in law firms and other organisations, including NGOs.
The ministry also condemned the use of children in such content, saying instructing them to react or comment on abusive scenarios amounts to child abuse and can cause lasting psychological harm.
