The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal has temporarily stopped Wiper Patriotic Front from registering as The Ukombozi Alliance after Allan Jayuga Akivaga challenged the name reservation.
The Tribunal has now directed the Registrar to proceed with the reservation within seven days from the date of the decision.
The five-member Tribunal, chaired by GAD Gathu Kiragu, is considering five key questions in the dispute involving Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s bid to secure Linda Mwananchi as a political identity.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Linda Mwananchi said its leadership had agreed to move forward as a united political force, citing what it described as Kenyans’ demand for better governance.

Sifuna had challenged the legality of the panel, arguing that disciplinary cases involving party members were the responsibility of the Disciplinary Committee provided for under Article 78 of the ODM Constitution.

The decision means the National Executive Committee (NEC) resolution adopted on June 22, 2026, removing Sifuna from the party's top administrative position, remains operational for now.
The ODM Central Management Committee backed the NEC decision to remove Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as Secretary-General. Leaders aligned to the Linda Mwananchi movement say the decision is unconstitutional and plan to challenge it in court.
The case revolves around claims that the party moved to sanction him without giving him a fair hearing, while ODM maintains the process is still active within its internal structures.
