Etale commended President Ruto for responding quickly to the Gen Z outcry after his meeting with Raila Odinga, saying it showed a willingness to address citizens’ concerns. He expressed optimism that more would be done “to ensure that the youth, the minority, persons with disability, women, are included in government.”
He narrated that during a conversation, he told Raila that his opponents were used to stealing his victory and maybe they should also plan to rig themselves into office.
Speaking during an interview with Radio Generation Kenya, Etale said only Raila accepted Ruto’s request for dialogue after the country plunged into unrest during the 2024 tax protests.
Etale said the initial intent of Saba Saba commemorations was to honour the struggle for political pluralism, not to incite chaos or confront the police.
