Etica urged Kenyans to verify investment platforms before transferring money, warning that the fraudulent website used several features intended to create an impression of legitimacy

The suspects were arrested by officers from the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit (BFIU) and Nakuru Police Station during a raid in Pangani area of Nakuru township.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the corporation cautioned passengers to remain vigilant against fraudsters who are impersonating its official booking platforms to trick unsuspecting customers into making payments through unauthorized channels.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature appears whenever a person tries to open or begin a chat with a number that is not saved in their contact list. The warning is designed to provide users with more context before they decide whether to continue the conversation.
The operation by the name Operation Ramz targeted phishing, malware, and online scams, also resulting in the seizure of 53 servers and nearly 8,000 intelligence pieces shared across 13 countries to strengthen regional cyber cooperation.
The corporation reiterated that recruitment is free and only conducted through its official website.
