The petition, presented to President William Ruto through Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen by Elizabeth Ochieng’, urges the Head of State to institute investigations into the conduct of Rev. Kobia and act on the findings.
Kobia called on the public to observe the day through peaceful dialogue rather than confrontation.
NCIC Chief Executive Officer Daniel Mutegi said the collaboration will enable both institutions to roll out joint programs designed to equip students with values such as tolerance.
Makori stressed that the commission’s actions are not politically motivated.
NCIC commissioner Danvas Makori confirmed Gachagua has been ordered to appear before the commission this week.
"There is nothing festive about the deaths, displacement, and devastation that marked that period," the Commission said in its statement.
