Card payments fall 12% as Kenyans cut spending

Data from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) shows the value of card transactions fell to Sh220.04 billion in the six months to June 2026 from Sh248.8 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. This marks an 11.55 per cent decline in the amount spent through cards.
