KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome noted that sticking strictly to minimum university grades is becoming increasingly unsustainable, particularly after many students who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams did not meet the Grade C+ requirement.
KUCCPS said the conference is designed to bring together students, parents, universities, TVET colleges, industry players and government agencies under one roof. The aim is to give learners a clear picture of career options, training pathways and current trends in the job market at a time when many are preparing for their next move after secondary school.
The slots cover a range of diploma and certificate courses offered by KMTC, which remains one of the largest trainers of middle-level health professionals in the region.
According to a media release dated October 8, 2025, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome has urged institutions to submit their programs through the KUCCPS online placement system.
The model, if adopted, could resemble systems in other countries where scholarship recipients, such as athletes or military trainees, are required to fulfill service duties before exploring private sector roles.
The CEO will serve as the accounting officer and secretary to the board and will play a critical role in driving the organization’s strategic direction. The role involves developing long-term strategies and annual operating budgets, ensuring prudent management of resources, spearheading the implementation of performance contracts, and overseeing the development and compliance of internal systems and controls.
In a statement released on its official platform, the agency emphasised that all applications must be submitted digitally within the two-week window.
The students, who were eligible for diploma, certificate, and artisan courses, are missing from the official records of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), causing alarm about the future of this large group.

The agency strongly advised individuals to avoid any engagement with fraudulent social media accounts that falsely claim to represent the official placement body.
The application window, which runs from July 14 to July 31, is open to all KCSE certificate holders who sat their exams between the year 2000 and 2024.
According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), the students had attained the required C+ grade or above but chose to pursue alternative routes or did not engage with the placement process.
The KMTC placements are part of a larger national placement exercise that saw 310,502 students admitted into universities and colleges.
Applicants must visit the student portal at students.kuccps.net and use their KCSE index number, year of examination, and password to log in.
The placement agency urged all eligible 2024 KCSE candidates to log in and take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline.
Mathematics is only compulsory in the STEM path, a decision that has caused public debate due to its possible long-term impact.
