According to Kindiki, Value Added Tax on petroleum products has been reduced from 16% as part of efforts to ease the burden on households and businesses facing rising living costs.
He said government interventions had cushioned consumers and announced stakeholder talks led by President William Ruto’s appointees. He warned that demonstrations, looting, and anarchy cannot resolve the fuel crisis affecting households and industries nationwide.
The DP said the government was keen to cushion citizens from the rising cost of fuel and its impact on the cost of living.
TIFA said the findings suggest that “Kindiki is viewed as the most politically acceptable deputy option,” adding that voters appeared to favour “continuity and stability within Ruto’s political camp heading into 2027.”
Deputy President DP Kithure Kindiki urged Kenya’s 127 regulatory agencies to improve coordination and efficiency, warning that duplication, delays and opaque processes undermine service delivery and public trust. He spoke in Kitui County.
Kindiki said the government is shifting from debt-driven financing to a model that leverages private capital to fund critical infrastructure projects.

The President said no amount of “name-calling, incitement and propaganda” would erode the ties he has built with the region over the past two decades.
Kindiki described the commissioning as part of sustained efforts to expand infrastructure and bring development closer to communities that previously lacked basic services.
Kindiki criticised opposition leaders, accusing them of failing to deliver when they previously held positions in government.
The Deputy President noted that the stabilisation of security has enabled the government to roll out a wide range of development projects that were previously disrupted by insecurity.
