The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority says its technical teams are closely tracking changes in weather and climate conditions and will continue issuing forecasts, advisories and updates to national and county governments, humanitarian and development organisations, the media and the public.
Kenya Met said additional areas expected to experience rainfall during the period include Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Kericho, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Narok, and Baringo.
Counties expected to experience rainfall include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
In the Highlands East, counties expected to receive afternoon rains after cloudy mornings include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi. The weather pattern in these areas is expected to begin with light showers before giving way to sunny intervals later in the day.
Daytime temperatures will exceed 30°C in several areas, while some parts of the Central Highlands and Rift Valley may record night-time lows below 10°C. A weather review on Tuesday shows declining rainfall nationwide.
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, regions likely to experience significant rainfall include the Central Highlands, with Nairobi singled out as well as the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, Western, and North-western Kenya.
The forecast indicates temperatures will drop across the Highlands, Rift Valley, and South-eastern lowlands, while some regions will experience intermittent rainfall.
