The orders followed an application by Charlene challenging a Standard publication of August 30, 2026, which included a front-page feature headlined “THE TRAIL…” and a page six story titled “Police uniform tender trail links Alusala teacher and First Family.”
The interim orders were issued on August 18, 2026, in Supreme Court Petition E025 of 2026 following a Notice of Motion application by Huelands Limited.
This recruitment follows a High Court decision lifting interim orders that had temporarily halted the exercise. Justice Bahati Mwamuye on Friday stayed the orders issued on November 10, 2025, after a petition by London-based activist Eliud Matindi, who had questioned the Inspector General’s authority to conduct the recruitment, arguing that the power belongs to the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).
