The Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was approved by the Senate in December 2024 before being forwarded to the National Assembly. It was introduced in the House in February 2025 and referred to the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC), which has yet to present its findings to MPs.

The notice, dated August 17,2026 and signed by Registrar of Political Parties J.C. Lorionokou, lists 48 political parties as eligible to receive funding during the financial year.
