IEBC over the weekend revealed that their immediate priority is organizing 23 by-elections across the country, which include six constituencies, one Senate seat, and 16 Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions.

The proposal, fronted by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, aims to address logistical and accessibility challenges that have previously limited diaspora participation in Kenya's electoral process.
The IEBC chair maintained that any recall must follow legal steps, including verification by IEBC before the Commission can issue any directives or organise a vote.

According to the chairperson, the absence of a fully constituted Commission after the 2022 general election delayed the process.
IEBC Chief Executive Officer Marjan Hussein Marjan noted that the upcoming polls will be a major test for the newly constituted commission as it begins to prepare for the 2027 General Election.
The former Ndaragwa MP added that the 2022 elections were flawed and questioned the results not only at the presidential level but also in parliamentary contests.
