Speaking in Western Kenya on Saturday, Osotsi dismissed claims that the movement was fractured, insisting that its leaders remained united behind Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s presidential ambitions.
The Suba North MP has previously maintained that the action taken against Sifuna may have helped raise his profile beyond Nairobi.
Sifuna welcomed the former Cabinet minister to the movement, describing him as a valuable addition to the opposition-backed outfit.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was among the leaders who expressed solidarity with Khalwale following Gloria’s death on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Sifuna, who heads the Linda Mwananchi movement that Khalwale recently joined, assured the senator that he was standing with him during the difficult period.

Their removal comes as both senators continue to play leading roles in the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has publicly opposed the broad-based government arrangement between ODM and President William Ruto's administration.

The movement is associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino among other leaders
Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda condemned rising political violence, saying “goons” against leaders undermine democratic space. Speaking on Citizen TV, he urged security agencies to act and said leaders should focus on ideas, not accusations.
The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security cautioned that the rise of political goons is quickly becoming a dangerous norm that must be addressed urgently.
The senator further said misinformation began spreading almost immediately after the attack, accusing online commentators of rushing to shape public opinion before official investigations could establish the truth.
The arrests come at a time when political leaders and members of the public have raised alarm over what they describe as a rise in organized groups linked to violence, especially as the country edges closer to the 2027 General Election.
