Congo Ebola outbreak nears 3,000 cases as death toll tops 1,300
Hunt said he decided to volunteer after following reports of the deadly Ebola outbreak in DR Congo and wanted to play a role in efforts to fight the disease.
The first delivery weighed 4.5 tonnes and contained 279 packages of emergency medical equipment. Among the supplies were Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, sample transportation kits, infrared thermometers, face shields, heavy-duty protective boots and other materials used to prevent the spread of infections.
The outbreak has spread beyond Ituri, with confirmed cases also reported in four other provinces in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as neighbouring Uganda.

Fally Ipupa was named a knight of the National Order of the Leopard in DR Congo, announced on state television by a presidential spokesperson. The honour recognizes contributions to national life and promotion of Congolese music.
