The Acts establishing the authorities targeted for repeal include those governing the Kerio Valley Development Authority, Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (Tarda), Lake Basin Development Authority, Ewaso Ng'iro North Rivers Basin Development Authority and Coast Development Authority.

The survey ranked education first among the 12 functions devolved to county governments, earning a 50 per cent performance rating in 2026. Although it retained the top position, the score marks a drop from 55 per cent recorded in 2023, though it is an improvement from 46 per cent in 2024.
The Council of Governors has now threatened to seek legal intervention, arguing that the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) called the strike even as talks were ongoing. The governors also warned that they would pursue legal guidance on whether the industrial action is lawful.
The reports are expected to give senators regular updates on financial activities within the counties they represent, allowing them to closely monitor how public funds are managed and spent.
The union said the industrial action would continue until the Council of Governors (CoG) and other relevant authorities address their outstanding grievances, warning that nurses and midwives had reached the limit of their patience.
Speaking on Radio Generation, Wachira said the government has already allocated Sh8.9 billion for the absorption of UHC staff, alongside Sh116 million under the Global Fund, but the process remains stalled.
