TACC banks on product diversification to drive future growth

Tile & Carpet Centre (TACC) is widening its product offering beyond its traditional business, with investments in construction chemicals, customised interiors and office solutions forming part of a strategy to capture new opportunities in Kenya’s growing construction market.

The retailer said the plan is built around product diversification, innovation and strategic partnerships, allowing it to offer customers complete solutions for residential and commercial projects while adapting to changing trends in the construction and home improvement sector.

Company officials said continued investment in construction chemicals, exclusive product lines, office furniture, customised interior products and customer experience is helping the company broaden its portfolio and remain competitive as the needs of homeowners, contractors and businesses continue to change.

One of the company’s Directors, Kushal Sanghrajka, said TACC has expanded into customised furniture, enabling customers to have products designed to suit their individual requirements instead of relying on standard designs.

“What we’re doing now is custom kitchens, wardrobes, and furniture, both for home and office. Customers come with their plans, we design it, manufacture it, and install it. We continue introducing new trends because people’s needs keep changing, and we have to keep growing with the industry,” Kushal said.

The company has also strengthened its office solutions business by offering a wider selection of workplace furniture designed to improve comfort and productivity.

Office Furniture and Field Sales representative Eric Habamba said the company focuses on understanding customer needs before recommending suitable products.

“We don’t only sell the chair. We sell the features, the advantages, and the benefits. Different customers have different needs, and our role is to ensure they get products that improve comfort, productivity, and overall user experience,” he remarked.

Beyond expanding its product range, TACC said improving customer experience remains one of its priorities. Assistant Showroom Manager Devan Parmar said the showroom has dedicated sections for sanitary ware, tiles, curtains, carpets, fabrics and furnishings, with staff guiding customers through every stage of their shopping journey.

“Whatever you require, starting from sanitary ware to tiles, curtains, and furniture, we take customers through everything from A to Z. Every day, before opening, we ensure everything is ready so customers enjoy a seamless shopping experience,” Devan explained.

Project Coordinator Joan Muyoka said the retailer has also invested in exclusive product collections that give customers access to designs not available elsewhere.

She said the Tapis brand is sold exclusively through Tile & Carpet Centre, while shoppers who attended the final day of the Big Annual Sale at Parkside Towers in Nairobi on Saturday had an opportunity to purchase premium products at discounted prices.

Construction chemicals have also become a key pillar of the company’s expansion through its partnership with Kalekim East Africa, a Turkish manufacturer with more than 50 years of experience.

Kalekim East Africa General Manager Nurhan Kozal said the company manufactures professional building products locally in Kenya, supplying materials used for tile installation, waterproofing and industrial flooring.

He said many developers are embracing modern construction chemicals because they provide stronger, safer and longer-lasting results than traditional cement-and-sand applications.

Kozal added that Kalekim has introduced specialised tile adhesives, grouts, waterproofing systems and epoxy flooring products that support modern construction while improving the quality and durability of building projects.

Customers who turned up for the final day of the annual sale said TACC’s broad range of products, exclusive brands and competitive prices made the retailer an attractive destination for homeowners, developers and businesses looking for quality construction and interior solutions.
