Sifuna unveils programme for second day of Linda Mwananchi Kakamega tour

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has unveiled the programme for the second day of the Linda Mwananchi movement’s grassroots mobilisation tour in Kakamega County.

The Sunday, August 9, itinerary will begin with a church service at ACK Cathedral in Mumias Town before the political team moves through Mumias, Navakholo and Malava for a series of engagements.

Sifuna said the tour would begin with the usual church service before ending in Lumakanda at Bokanda, adding that he wanted to know whether his supporters were already tired.

According to the programme released by the movement, the Sunday service at ACK Cathedral will be followed by political engagements in Mumias Town starting at 10 am.

The team will then move to Navakholo Market, where it is scheduled to engage residents at noon.

At 2 pm, the leaders will proceed to Malava Town before travelling to Lumakanda for the final engagement of the day at 4 pm.

The itinerary will take the political team through several areas of Kakamega in a single day, reflecting the movement’s focus on taking its mobilisation efforts directly to local communities.

The second day of the tour follows a five-stop programme unveiled for the previous day as Sifuna and his allies continued efforts to strengthen their grassroots networks in the region.

The Linda Mwananchi movement has increasingly focused on community-level political engagements as it seeks to expand its presence beyond traditional party structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Kakamega tour is part of a broader effort to build support in Western Kenya, a region that has attracted increased political attention ahead of the next elections.

Sifuna has recently been accompanied by several political leaders during mobilisation activities in the region, including Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.

The movement has also held political gatherings in Kakamega and other parts of Western Kenya as its leaders seek to establish stronger links with voters at grassroots level.

Sunday’s final stop at Lumakanda is expected to be a key moment in the programme, particularly for the movement’s efforts to consolidate support in the wider Lugari area.

Sifuna’s reference to “Bokanda” appeared to signal the location of the final rally, while his question, “Ama mshachoka?” framed the event as the culmination of a busy day of engagements.

The Kakamega tour comes as political activity intensifies across Kenya, with leaders and emerging political formations stepping up grassroots mobilisation and positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

For Linda Mwananchi, the engagements provide an opportunity to interact directly with communities while expanding the movement’s networks in Western Kenya.

The Sunday programme is expected to bring Sifuna and his allies into contact with residents across multiple parts of Kakamega before the team concludes the day in Lumakanda.
