Political leaders brought a striking fashion moment to Charlene Ruto’s Koito ceremony in Kilgoris on Saturday, with a section of Nairobi leaders turning heads as they arrived in coordinated outfits for the high-profile family occasion.
The leaders were among guests making their way to Intonna Heritage Farm in Naserian Village, Narok County, where President William Ruto’s daughter is holding her traditional ceremony.
Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, offered a glimpse of the colourful arrival in a video shared online, showing a group of leaders walking together towards the venue.
“Vile Tunaingia Kilgoris Kwa Harusi ya Charlene! Harusi tunayo!!” Jalang’o captioned the video as the group made its way into the ceremony.
Jalang’o stood out in a maroon or brown-toned Kaunda-style suit, which he matched with a brown cap. He added dark spectacles and carried a walking stick as he walked at the front of the group.

Koito is an important traditional ceremony among the Kalenjin community. It brings together families and friends for a cultural celebration that can involve elaborate preparations, traditional attire and the exchange of gifts.
For Charlene, the ceremony marks an important traditional step as she prepares to leave her parental home and begin a new chapter of her life.
The Kilgoris gathering provided an opportunity for political leaders and other prominent guests to join President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto’s family in marking the occasion.
Earlier in the day, helicopters were also reported arriving at Intonna Heritage Farm as guests travelled to the ceremony, adding to the activity surrounding the high-profile event.
The ceremony comes against a backdrop of rising political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with senior politicians allied to President Ruto among those attending the closely watched family occasion.
