Patel ready for Round 1 of Kenya National Rally Championship

The Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) Round 1 will feature a familiar name on the entry list as Kush Patel makes his return to competition at Stoni Athi Grille on the weekend of July 31 to August 1, following a three-year hiatus.

The event, hosted by 254 Motorsports Club and sanctioned by Motorsport Kenya (MK), marks Kush’s first competitive outing in three years. Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday, the driver expressed optimism ahead of the race.

“We definitely plan on doing KNRC1. The car has been fully rebuilt. The team just got back from Rwanda, so we are working on finalising a few aspects of the car,” said Kush.

Kush, the brother of rally champion Karan Patel, has spent the lengthy break rebuilding and refocusing. He says the time away has only heightened his anticipation as he prepares to return behind the wheel of his Subaru GC8, a machine he is familiar with.

“Looking forward to the event and being back in the GC8. I’ve had a very long hiatus, so it’s good to potentially be back in the hot seat,” he added.

With entry fees waived for Round 1, organisers 254 Motorsports Club expect a strong turnout as the 2026 championship gets underway.
