Networks Open Season 2 set to showcase Nairobi’s growing padel scene

Nairobi’s growing padel scene is set for another major test as Networks Open Season 2 returns to Networks Padel Village from August 25 to 30, 2026.

The six-day tournament comes just months after more than 250 athletes took part in the Carrefour Open at the same venue in June, underlining the sport’s rising popularity among competitive and recreational players.

Season 2 will feature nine categories across Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Elite levels, with more than Sh600,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

The Top Kenya 4.5+ category is expected to attract some of the country’s highest-ranked players, while the multi-level format will give newcomers and experienced athletes an opportunity to compete.

“Networks Open has quickly established itself as one of the country’s signature padel tournaments,” said Sylvia Mugweru, Club Manager at Networks Padel Village.

“Season 2 is bigger, more competitive, and designed to continue growing the sport while delivering an exceptional experience for players and spectators alike.”

Weekday matches will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., while weekend action will take place between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Organisers expect the tournament to attract players, families and spectators from across Nairobi’s growing padel community.

Registration is open at Sh8,000 per team, or Sh4,000 per player, with entries to be assessed using Playtomic ratings to promote fair competition across the different categories.

Padel is a fast-growing racket sport that mixes rules and features from tennis and squash.

Played almost exclusively in doubles on an enclosed glass-and-mesh court one-third the size of a tennis court, it uses a solid, stringless paddle and a low-compression ball that can be played off the walls
