The 2026 Kenya National Chess League returns this weekend, with matches scheduled for July 25–26 at Sportsview Hotel, Kasarani, Nairobi, as clubs prepare to compete across the three main league tiers.
The two-day event will bring together 70 teams from corporate organisations, universities, institutions, and private clubs, alongside players from Kenya and across the East African region for the tournament showdown.
The Premier League is expected to produce a thrilling three-horse race, with Mavens Tacticians leading the standings, while corporate teams Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Chess Club and Equity Chess Club occupy second and third positions respectively.
Mavens Royals remain at the top of the Super League A standings, followed by Litlife House Chess Club in second place and Nacha Royals Club in third. The three teams head into this round having strengthened their squads during the transfer window.
In Super League B, Kenyatta University (KU) leads the standings, with Karen Chess Club and Black Knights Dark Whites closely following in second and third positions respectively.
Attention now shifts to Nairobi for this weekend’s National Chess League action, as clubs battle for the title while others fight to avoid relegation.
