Nairobi MCA, two others charged with robbery with violence over Donholm attack

A Nairobi court has charged Viwandani MCA Aaron Kang'ara Wangari and two other men with robbery with violence over an alleged attack in Donholm in which three people were reportedly robbed of cash and valuables. The three denied the charges and were released on bond as the case moves to trial.

Wangari appeared before the Makadara Law Courts on Tuesday alongside Kefa Munyoro and Zablon Kirima Mwangi, where they each pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Investigators say the case relates to an incident that occurred on June 26, 2026, in Donholm, where three victims were allegedly attacked before the suspects escaped with money and other valuables.

"Investigations established that the three allegedly attacked and violently robbed three victims of cash and other valuables before fleeing the scene," DCI said in a statement.

The prosecution told the court that detectives linked the three accused to the robbery through investigations that resulted in their arrest and prosecution.

After taking their pleas, the court granted each suspect a bond of Sh1 million or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000 pending the hearing of the case.

The prosecution is expected to table evidence during the trial as it seeks to prove the robbery with violence charges.

The offence is among the most serious under Kenyan law and carries stiff penalties if an accused person is found guilty.

After the arraignment, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations appealed to the public to continue supporting efforts to fight crime by sharing information with investigators.

The agency said members of the public can report criminal activities anonymously through its toll-free hotline or WhatsApp platform, adding that public support remains important in ongoing investigations.

The case will be heard before the Makadara Law Courts, where Wangari and his co-accused will continue defending themselves against the allegations.
