Mudavadi urges Kenyans to protect peace ahead of 2027 election

The 2027 election should not become a setback to Kenya’s progress, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said, calling on Kenyans to protect peace and ensure the next polls are conducted democratically.

Speaking in Teso South during a youth empowerment programme on Friday, Mudavadi said the country’s stability must be guarded as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2027 General Election.

He said Kenyans should focus on completing the electoral process peacefully and then return their attention to building the country.

"What we want is peace, unity and democracy to be our anchor moving forward. We want to have a peaceful and democratic election. We must to quickly move from elections and get back on the track of developing our nation." Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi also asked voters to support President William Ruto’s bid for a second term, saying he wanted the election to produce a clear result without a petition.

"We are urging Kenyans to vote for President Ruto’s re-election. We want a petition free win, with a big margin. Petitions waste a lot of time and drag the country into uncertainty. We need to roll out development of our nation once elections are over and we move forward together as a people. My clarion call is President Ruto's two term and petition free." Mudavadi added.

He said lengthy election disputes could keep the country in uncertainty and delay the return to development after the polls.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary also used the meeting to challenge young people to turn their talents, skills and creative abilities into sustainable livelihoods.

He said the creative economy remains an important part of Kenya’s development agenda and encouraged the youth to pursue their talents with clear goals that can help them earn a living and create opportunities for others.

Mudavadi further reminded residents of Teso South that their participation in the political process would help shape the future of Western Kenya and the country.

"As we look towards August 2027, I call you to support this journey with President William Ruto and myself, while safeguarding the peaceful and democratic elections that remain the foundation of our nation's stability and progress." Mudavadi said.

He said empowering young people, strengthening communities and protecting democracy would help Kenya move forward.

"Empowered youth, strong communities and peaceful democracy, that is how we move Kenya forward." he added.
