Days after losing the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah has vowed to remain actively involved in the constituency's development, saying President William Ruto assured him that government projects will proceed as planned.
Speaking on July 21, 2026, after a meeting with the President at State House, Nairobi, Muchina said they discussed key development priorities for Ol Kalou and the welfare of its residents. He added that he had accepted the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of several ongoing national government projects in the constituency, despite his electoral defeat.
"I had the privilege and honour of meeting H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, just a few days after the conclusion of the Ol Kalou Parliamentary By-Election. We held a fruitful and candid discussion on the development priorities of Ol Kalou Constituency and the future of our people."
Muchina said President Ruto commended him for conducting what he described as an issue-based campaign that promoted respectful politics.
"I am deeply humbled that the President congratulated me for conducting an issue-based campaign and for demonstrating to the entire country that politics can be done with dignity, respect, ideas and maturity without insults, abuse or divisive slogans."
Despite his defeat in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, former UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah said his commitment to serving the people of the constituency remains unchanged.
"Although our victory was postponed, our commitment to the people of Ol Kalou remains unwavering. Leadership is not only about holding office; it is about standing with the people and ensuring that development reaches every household," he said.
President William Ruto assured him that key national government projects in the constituency would continue as planned and that he had accepted the responsibility of overseeing their implementation.
"I am pleased to inform the residents of Ol Kalou that the President assured me that the following key projects will continue and be completed for the benefit of our people, and I will personally supervise their implementation," he said.
He listed the projects as the completion of 36 ongoing electrification programmes, construction of two houses for vulnerable families in every ward, completion of five borehole projects, continued development of Nyandarua University, completion of the Level Five JM Kariuki Hospital, construction of the Ol Kalou Stadium and the tarmacking of roads where works have already commenced.
Muchina emphasised that the initiatives should be regarded as development programmes intended to improve the lives of residents rather than political projects.
"These projects are not about politics; they are about the future of Ol Kalou. I have accepted the responsibility of closely supervising their progress."
The UDA candidate also thanked residents for their support during the by-election campaign and urged them to remain united as the constituency pursues its development agenda.
"The election is behind us, but our shared dream of a modern, developed and prosperous Ol Kalou is still alive. Let us remain united, peaceful and focused on development. Together, we shall continue working tirelessly to make Ol Kalou shine."
His remarks come just days after the constituency elected Sammy Kamau Ngotho of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) as its new Member of Parliament, setting the stage for continued political competition as both leaders seek to influence the constituency's development trajectory ahead of the 2027 General Election.
