Patrick Matu won the fourth edition of the 2026 NewGen Golf Tournament, held at Windsor Golf and Country Club, after scoring 36 points. He narrowly edged Nathan Njuguna, who also finished on 36 points but settled for second place on countback.
Mwanzighe Kubo claimed the men's title with 41 points, beating Stanley Gachoki, who finished as runner-up. Anna Meingi emerged as the best lady with 39 points, edging pre-tournament favourite Millicent Mello, who finished second on 38 points.
With participation continuing to grow, the organisers have announced plans to break the tournament's one-day tradition during the fifth edition in 2027 by extending it to a two-day event.
More than 100 golfers took part in this year's competition, prompting organisers to consider expanding the event. NewGen Senior Vice President Vivek Bhatnagar said the increasing number of participants has made the move necessary.
"This year we had about 120 participants, and while we are happy to host this tournament, we are investing heavily in both the business and skills aspects of the game. Many golfers wanted to compete this year, but we had to turn some away because we have always held it as a one-day event. From next year, we are planning to stage the tournament over two days to accommodate everyone who wants to play," said Vivek.
The number of participants has doubled since the inaugural edition in 2022, when only 60 golfers competed. The tournament has consistently been held at Windsor Golf and Country Club during Kenya's July winter season.
Organisers expect about 200 golfers to participate in the fifth edition, which is scheduled for July 2027 at Windsor Golf and Country Club.
