Maradona's son warns England ahead of semi-final clash

Diego Maradona's son, Diego Jr, has warned England that Wednesday's critical World Cup semi-final against his native Argentina in Atlanta will not be an "ordinary match."

Diego junior's father, the late Armando Maradona, back in 1986 eliminated England at the Azteca with the now infamous 'Hand of God', but beyond football, England has a huge political row with Argentina from the brief 74-day war back in 1982, when Argentina tried to take the Malvinas (Falkland Islands) from the Brits, a war that ended with 900 casualties.

"It will bring to our minds everything about the Malvinas, and all our boys who lost their lives there. And then there's everything that happened with my dad in 1986. My old man decided a historic game, and since then, nothing has ever been normal in matches against England," Diego Junior was quoted by Sun football on Wednesday.

"This is never going to be a normal game, and it is going to be especially tough for our national team. England are a good side, it's true. But look - they've got to take on and defeat the world champions. It will be hard for both teams," he continued.

"My father would not see it as a normal match, as just another game. We can say a lot, but it would not be normal - nor will it be normal. For all Argentines, and all members of the Maradona family, it will be a meeting like no other," he added.

Maradona is not alive, but Argentina have talismanic captain Lionel Messi with them, who has never faced England, in what is now deemed as an acid test for the eight-time Ballon D'or winner.
