KUCCPS reopens KMTC applications for September intake

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for selected Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) courses with vacancies for the September 2026 intake.

The opportunity targets students who missed the earlier application window and those seeking to join KMTC for professional training in healthcare-related fields.

In an announcement on Monday, KMTC said KUCCPS had reopened applications for programmes where vacancies remained ahead of the September intake, giving prospective students another chance to secure placement.

“Applications are open again! KUCCPS has reopened applications for selected KMTC courses with available vacancies for the September 2026 intake. If you missed the earlier application window, this is another opportunity to begin your journey towards a career in healthcare,” KMTC said.

Applicants have been advised to access the KUCCPS student portal, check the courses with available vacancies, and submit their applications through the designated platform.

“View available KMTC courses and apply,” the college said.

The reopening comes as Kenya prepares for the September 2026 academic intake, with thousands of students seeking opportunities to pursue professional and technical training after completing secondary education.

KMTC is among the country's key institutions for training middle-level healthcare professionals. It offers programmes at certificate, diploma and Higher Diploma levels across a range of medical and health disciplines.

Its training areas include nursing, clinical medicine, medical laboratory sciences, pharmacy, community health and other specialised fields.

The college operates campuses in different parts of the country, providing a major pipeline of healthcare workers for Kenya's health system.

The additional placement window could therefore provide an opportunity for students who were unable to secure places during the initial KUCCPS application period to pursue training in a sector facing continued demand for qualified personnel.

KMTC has also announced that applications for its Higher Diploma courses are currently open through its admissions portal.

“Applications for Higher Diploma Courses are open on the KMTC application portal,” the institution said.

The Higher Diploma opportunity is aimed at qualified healthcare professionals seeking to advance their academic and professional skills through specialised training.

The two application routes provide separate opportunities for prospective students: those seeking placement into selected KMTC programmes through KUCCPS can apply for courses with available vacancies, while eligible professionals seeking Higher Diploma training can use the KMTC admissions portal.

KMTC urged applicants to carefully review the programmes available under the September intake and confirm that they meet the relevant academic and admission requirements before submitting their applications.

“Don’t miss out. Your healthcare career could start here,” the institution said.

The reopening also comes as Kenya continues efforts to expand and strengthen its healthcare workforce, with trained personnel required to support hospitals, primary healthcare facilities and other health services across the country.

Prospective applicants have therefore been encouraged to use only the designated online platforms, verify the specific courses available and complete their applications within the stipulated period.
