After losing the opening match 3-0 to Kenya Prisons on Friday at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani, during the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National Women's League playoffs, defending champions Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) bounced back with a 3-0 victory on Saturday to level the best-of-three series and force a decisive third match on Sunday.
Geoffrey Omondi's charges had no option but to win in front of a packed MISC, and they delivered with an energetic and disciplined performance, defeating Kenya Prisons 3-0 to retain the 2025/26 KVF National League playoffs title.
"We had to fight for this after losing Game One on Friday. We had no choice but to win Game Two and force Game Three, which we did," Omondi said after the match.
"The team responded well tactically and with great discipline going into this match. The results spoke for themselves."
On Sunday, KPC dominated all three sets, winning 25-22, 25-23, 25-22, to cap off a remarkable season that also saw them win the Genocide Memorial Cup in Kigali, Rwanda, in May.
The Oilers' impressive campaign also included a bronze medal at the CAVB Africa Club Championships in Cairo, Egypt, in April, where they defeated Algeria's CF Carthage in the third-place playoff.
Following their latest triumph, Omondi's side will now shift their focus to the Kenya Cup semi-finals, scheduled for next week at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
