A dark chapter in Kenya’s history was written on August 7, 1998, when a truck bomb ripped through the US Embassy in Nairobi, killing 213 people and injuring about 5000 others.
The attack, later linked to al-Qaeda, happened alongside a similar blast in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Today, the August 7th Memorial Park on Haile Selassie Avenue stands on the former embassy site, honouring those who died through a memorial plaque and notice board.
