Preparations for the Kenya Health Summit 2026 have entered the final stretch, with the Ministry of Health stepping up coordination ahead of the national event.
Senior ministry officials, technical committees and key stakeholders have reviewed progress on logistics, exhibitions, programme development and stakeholder participation as organisers finalise preparations for the summit, scheduled to take place in Nairobi on August 18 and 19 under the theme, "Reforms Delivered, Health as a Right."
In a statement issued on August 6, 2026, the Ministry of Health said the high-level planning meeting was co-chaired by Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr Ouma Oluga and Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni.
According to the Ministry of Health, the meeting brought together the summit's technical committees and key stakeholders to review preparations as organisers move into the final stages of planning.
Committee leads presented updates covering programme development, exhibitions, logistics, communications and resource mobilisation, while participants also reviewed implementation timelines to ensure all activities remain on schedule before the event begins.
The meeting further examined the proposed thematic areas and plenary sessions that will shape discussions during the summit, alongside plans for stakeholder participation and exhibition booth allocation.
The ministry said the discussions also focused on resource requirements needed to support the event and ensure smooth implementation of planned activities.
"Preparations for the Kenya Health Summit 2026 are in the final stretch, with technical teams intensifying coordination ahead of the national event," the Ministry of Health said.
It added that "Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, and Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, co-chaired a high-level planning meeting bringing together the Summit's technical committees and key stakeholders to assess progress and finalise outstanding activities."
The ministry said committee leaders "provided updates on programme development, exhibitions, logistics, communications and resource mobilisation," while the meeting also "reviewed the proposed thematic areas and plenary sessions, stakeholder participation, exhibition booth allocation, resource requirements and implementation timelines."
The Kenya Health Summit is expected to bring together government officials, health professionals, development partners and other stakeholders involved in Kenya's health sector to deliberate on reforms and priorities shaping healthcare delivery.
The meeting itself reflected the broad participation expected at the summit, drawing senior Ministry of Health officials, chief executive officers of health-sector state corporations, county government representatives and other institutions involved in organising the event.
According to the ministry, the summit will be held under the theme "Reforms Delivered, Health as a Right," highlighting the government's focus on advancing health reforms and strengthening access to healthcare.
"The Kenya Health Summit 2026 will take place on 18–19 August 2026 in Nairobi under the theme, 'Reforms Delivered, Health as a Right,'" the ministry said.
With less than two weeks remaining before delegates convene in Nairobi, organisers say technical teams are completing the remaining logistical and operational tasks to ensure the summit proceeds as planned and provides a platform for discussions on Kenya's evolving health agenda.
