ICT Authority opens applications for 11th Presidential Digital Talent Internship

Young Kenyan ICT graduates have until September 7, 2026, to apply for 500 internship opportunities under the 11th cohort of the Presidential Digital Talent Internship Programme (PDTP), as the ICT Authority seeks to give recent graduates practical experience and skills to improve their chances of securing jobs.

The 12-month Digitalent Cohort XI 2026/2027 programme will place successful applicants in public and private sector organisations, where they will gain workplace experience, receive mentorship and strengthen their technical and professional skills.

Applications are already open online and will close at midnight on Monday, September 7, 2026.

The ICT Authority said the programme is aimed at preparing young ICT graduates for employment opportunities in the technology sector and other areas that require digital skills.

“The objective of the program is to develop and prepare young ICT graduates to take up employment opportunities that come up in the ICT as well as other sectors. Participants will gain valuable workplace experience, receive mentorship from industry professionals, enhance their technical and professional competencies, refine their career aspirations, and build strong professional networks,” the authority said.

The 500 positions will be shared across five areas of specialisation, with Network and Digital Infrastructure receiving the largest allocation of 150 slots.

Software Development and Artificial Intelligence will have 100 positions, while Information Security and Data Analytics will each have 50 opportunities. Another 50 slots will be available in Multimedia, including Graphic Design and Digital Marketing.

To qualify, applicants must have graduated from a recognised institution within the last two years, beginning January 2024, with First Class or Upper Second-Class Honours or an equivalent qualification.

Students who are yet to graduate but are expected to complete their studies by December 2026 can also apply. However, they must provide a recommendation or reference letter from their university confirming that they are expected to graduate with First Class or Upper Second-Class Honours.

The internship is open to recent bachelor's degree graduates in ICT, engineering and closely related fields.

Eligible areas of study include Information Technology and ICT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications and other related disciplines.

Candidates are also expected to demonstrate knowledge and technical ability in their preferred area of specialisation. The ICT Authority said applicants may be required to prove their technical skills before reaching the interview stage.

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between 21 and 29 years. They must also be unemployed and should not have previously undertaken a Government of Kenya internship programme.

Those selected will be required to work on a full-time basis and must be willing to take up deployment in any Ministry, Department, Agency, Corporation or County Government across the country's 47 counties.

The internship will run from 8am to 5pm, giving participants an opportunity to gain experience in public-sector operations and professional workplaces.

The ICT Authority has encouraged women, persons with disabilities and graduates from arid and semi-arid land (ASAL) regions to submit their applications.

“Applicants should be willing and ready to be deployed in any Ministry, Department, Agency, Corporation, or County Government (MCDAs) within the 47 counties on full time basis from 8:00am-5:00pm,” the authority said.

Applicants must fill in the online application form and provide all the required documents. The authority warned that incomplete applications will not be considered.

Only candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted for interviews.
