Kassim Abdi Sebu has been directed to appear before detectives in Homa Bay as police widen their probe into violence that broke out during the Linda Mwananchi tour in the county.
The National Police Service (NPS) said Sebu is among the people being pursued over the disturbances reported on August 16, 2026, when the political tour took place.
NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said Sebu had been linked to the unrest and should present himself at the County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Homa Bay.
“One Kassim Abdi Sebu, who is being associated with the mayhem witnessed in Homa Bay, has been ordered to report to the County DCI Headquarters, Homa Bay,” said Nyaga.
The directive is part of a wider police operation targeting people suspected of involvement in the violence, with several arrests already made and cases taken before the courts.
Police said 12 suspects in Homa Bay have appeared in court and were released under different bond conditions as investigations into the incidents continue.
Two additional suspects remain in police custody as detectives investigate their alleged involvement in incidents involving firearms. They will be taken to court after the investigations are completed.
“In Homa Bay, 12 suspects took plea and have been placed under various bond terms, while two more are being investigated for gun-related incidents and shall be produced in court upon the finalisation of investigations.”
The police have not indicated how long the investigations will take but said the process would continue as officers seek to identify and pursue those linked to the violence.
The NPS also provided an update on a separate case in Kisumu, where 15 suspects were arrested while allegedly carrying different crude weapons ahead of a rally.
The 15 suspects have since been presented in court, where the DCI was given four days to conduct additional investigations.
Police have at the same time instructed Oliver Jaoko, alias Olivetti, to report to the Regional DCI Headquarters in Kisumu. Jaoko is said to be linked to the group of 15 suspects who were arrested before the rally.
The latest developments come as police maintain their focus on violence and criminal activity associated with public and political gatherings.
Nyaga said officers would continue taking action against individuals involved in gang-related violence and other criminal acts, with those found culpable facing the law.
“We shall remain on this path until all acts of violence and criminality are brought to an end,” Nyaga said.
