"Eats like a bear": Haaland's 6,000-calorie meal plan

Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland reportedly consumes around 6,000 calories a day, spread across six meals, to fuel his 6ft 5in frame. His enormous appetite once prompted former Norway teammate Josh King to describe him as "a bear."

Haaland, who has scored seven goals at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in North America, bullied Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães in the air to score the opener before adding a second as Norway stunned five-time world champions Brazil 2-1 in New Jersey last Sunday to reach the quarter-finals.

The Norwegian striker, who won last season's Premier League Golden Boot with 27 goals in 35 matches for Manchester City, follows a disciplined diet that includes chicken, pasta, steak, fish, eggs, vegetables, organ meats, raw milk and honey.

"I've never seen anyone eat as much as he does. He eats like a bear," former Norway teammate Josh King once said.

Haaland is currently level with France captain Kylian Mbappé on seven goals in the tournament, while Argentina captain Lionel Messi leads the scoring charts with eight heading into the quarter-finals.

The 25-year-old, who is expected to lead Norway's attack against England in Sunday's quarter-final in Miami, reportedly avoids sugary snacks and relies mainly on water to stay hydrated.

He will once again be the player to watch against Thomas Tuchel's England side, which booked its place in the last eight after eliminating co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca.
